I was told recently that I am the woman that brings out the laughter. It was part of a birthday wish that touched me dearly. In a different message I was also told that I take care of people’s inner gardens, watering them with laughter. I’d like to think that I support watering these gardens, not only with laughter, but also with insights, awareness and steps towards a new direction.
I was reflecting on this image that I was given or perhaps that I transmitted, an image of a “woman that brings out the laughter”. Although I may ignite laughter these days through the practice of laughter yoga, I am only a human, who is no stranger to tears and inner-struggle.
I know how it is to be alone. I know how it is to have no reasons to laugh. I know the taste of intense negative emotions. And it is ok.
Too many times we suppress our emotional pain, as we don’t know how to handle and express it. On the other hand, getting in touch with our difficult emotions, allowing them to exist, expressing them and understanding the message that they bring, can be a valuable relief for our mental well-being and can contribute to our personal development, even if in the short term it does not seem like it.

Transceding the pain … to become more Human
For me, the fact that I have known the inner pain and the inner struggle allowed me to better connect with other people’s difficulties.
It brought me closer to people and made me become more empathetic, compassionate, understanding and non-judgemental. And these skills allowed me to become a more HUMAN coach.
And last but not least, the fact that I am no stranger to inner pain and inner struggle made me want to share with other people this wonderful inner tool, our laughter, that helps us to lighten up, contributing to our mental and physical well-being.
Our laughter, especially practiced intentionally, can give us hope, energy, drive, positive emotions and make us enjoy the moment. It can allow us to let go and simply be.
