When friends know that you love colours, you get a colourful plant pot, bringing together Green – Yellow – Pink and Red!
And what a coincidence, I recently talked about these colours, during a playful networking activity that I facilitated at Centre Le Chemin, with the help of serious games, some playing cards and a tambourine, part of the Neighbours’ Day/ Fête des Voisins.
In pairs, the participants had to reply to several questions in order to know each other better, and go beyond the usual expat questions: ‘Where do you come from?’ and ‘What do you do for a living?’
Some of the questions that the participants had to reply were :
- What is your favourite colour? and to make it more interesting…
- What does this colour say about you as a person?
It is my turn now to answer this question. I actually have several favourite colours. I simply love colours, and my preference varies depending in which stage I am in my life.
I also tend to use colours to express myself indirectly, whether I am aware or not. Many times, the colour that I wear says a lot about the state I am in, mentally, emotionally or physically.
For several years now, my favourite colours are, surprise, surprise, just like in the flower pot that I received as a gift: 🌿green, 🌼 yellow and 🌸 pink. And for some very long time, I really loved wearing red 🌹.
What do these colours say about me?
🌲🌳🌲Green: It is my wellbeing focus, it is the nature that helps me and others to co-regulate, it is living in a more sustainable way for my overall wellbeing, by making choices that meet my needs and especially our fundamental human needs. It is the priority that I give to sleep, to rest and recovery and to relationships. It is serenity and healthy choices. It is regeneration and resilience. It is respect, optimism and being casual and approachable. It is seriousness and depth, but also warmth.
🌼 ☀️🌼 Yellow: I love all nuances of yellow, particularly, the mustard and the intense orange-yellow shades. To me, yellow and its yellow-orange shades speak about creativity, laughter, playfulness, joy and courage to show up as you are, by respecting your authenticity. It may be a long process, especially if in your past you have experienced many situations in which you had to hide or suppress your true self in order to be safe or in order to be accepted by others. Step by step I am exploring this colour in both my personal life and my work, through laugher yoga, playful serious games training and facilitation and singing children’s songs.
🌸💗🌸 Pink: To me, pink speaks about self-compassion. Coming from a very criticising upbringing and society, I developed a very self-critical inner-voice, which in the long term turned out to be very detrimental, instead of being supportive and motivating, as my parents and teachers thought criticising would be. Developing self-compassion not only benefits yourself, but also relationships with others, as how could you show compassion for others, unless you are compassionate with yourself?
💃 Red: For a very long time, red was the colour I was associating to the flamenco dance, that I practiced for many years. It definitely speaks passion and intense emotions.
And what about you – what are your favourite colours, and what do they say about yourself?

How about exploring this in a one-on-one coaching conversation? It can be outdoor, in the forest or a park, surrounded by the true nature’s colours. It also can also be online.
I bring body-mind approaches to coaching, emotional intelligence, empathy and of course, care and non-judgement. I am also a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and coaching ethics are very important to me.
